Pessimism leads to weakness, optimism to power.
– William James
Half glass before me;
Do I see full or empty?
The water holds strength.
I have so much strength and power today.
Yeah, most days. Some days I feel like I can’t make anything go right. Everything I do blows up, everything I try to fix stays broke. It’s frustrating when things don’t work the way everything says it should and there are no answers as to why.
But those days are in the minority. As I have grown older, I have learned where to put my energy. (Yeah, I said it. Pushing 50, baby).
Specifically, placing my energy on things that are important. Important to me, that is. Important and with lasting value. I don’t need to spend time on why the person won’t tell me something. I have places to go, people to help, and things to write.
Choosing where I apply my energy – that is power.
I am not perfect, obviously. But as I have stated, my motto is “Progress, not perfection.” Am I getting better? Am I learning from my mistakes?
That is power.
