Practice the following 6 tips to write faster blog posts. You will have more time to spend on building your business, and your writing will benefit as well.
Put Yourself on a Timer
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. It is very easy to spend 2 or 3 hours agonizing over a blog post. But this is not possible when you give yourself a specific period of time to complete your post. Most jobs will grow to fill the time allotted. So give yourself exactly 20 or 30 or 50 minutes to write your post. When the timer goes off your time is up. Stop writing, no matter where you are. Spell check, edit, proofread and post.
Follow a Formula …
Remember back in school when you had to write a 5 paragraph essay? Use the same formula.
1 – In the first paragraph tell your reader what you are going to tell them.
2 – Then spend 3 paragraphs telling them.
3 – In your last paragraph, tell them what you told them.
Your first and last paragraphs should directly relate to your title, and in the middle of your post, simply tell them what you promised to tell them.
Use Numbers in Your Headline
Writing fast is very simple when you do not allow for distractions. With a headline like “6 Writing Tips to Faster Blog Posts” you list a short 2 or 3 sentence introduction, and then simply number those tips. (This also increases readership, as everyone loves lists.)
Write Your Headline First
Creating a headline before you begin writing keeps you on point. Remember that you should always deliver on whatever promise you make in your headline. Then write specifically to deliver the information that your headline or post title refers to.
Buy Niche PLR and Improve It
Private Label content exists for every (just about) niche out there. Most of it is okay at best. I use PLR for ideas for articles. Like I might pull a PLR article on Top 5 WordPress Plugins. Well I won’t agree with three to four of their choices, and the fifth one doesn’t really sound right. But the PLR gets my “juices” flowing and my own Top 5 list will be online very quickly.
Use Speech-to-Text Software
Engagement and readability skyrockets when you write like you talk. So why not use speech-to-text voice-recognition software to do just that? Dragon Naturally Speaking provides an inexpensive piece of software which accomplishes this, and is 99% accurate out-of-the-box. Using this software is similar to learning to touch-type. When you start out, it will feel slower; but as you build the skill, you can really knock out posts fast with Dragon Naturally Speaking.
